Fire-rated openings are used to  separate a  structure or space  to stop the spread of flame, smoke  and also  poisonous gases. The 2019 edition of NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors  as well as Other Opening Protectives, establishes the criteria that fire-rated  frames and doors   need to  satisfy.

Chapter 6 Swinging Doors with Builders Hardware.
All swing doors shall be closed  as well as  locked at the time of fire.
Self-Closing Doors shall swing  quickly  and also freely  as well as shall be  geared up with a closing device to cause the door to  shut  as well as latch each time it is opened.
The door closing  device  will not have a hold-open  attribute.
